How much do the kids who are driving the School Buses today know about technology and babysitting kids? More than you think!

Well, it turns out they know a lot more than we thought they did!

First off, they know they need to know more than turning on the iPad or the TV to keep kids entertained:
•   They need to know mom and dad's rules for behavior, snacks (if any) and bedtime.
•   They know the first order of the babysitting business is to keep the kids safe at all time, from exit doors to emergency phone numbers.
•   They need to know the guidelines for being a top-notch, well-liked and capable babysitter.

Surprisingly, we found they are great critics of our new Babysitting, Inc mobile app, now available through http://realexperiencesatlife.com/ by clicking on the Apple App store. We gave a copy of this innovative new tool on how to be an even better babysitter to three local kids 14, 12 and 9. Their jury is in.

Here's what Josh, age 10 had to say:  "I opened the app and was surprised on how and organized it was! I started exploring and now I want to start my own babysitting program. I was so reeled in by this useful information. I would highly recommend this app to others."

What did they like best? Sam and Ellen said "Being able to move about the app and select the topics of greater interest....the blend of readable text, interesting pictures and helpful videos....well organized & colorful....useful information."

What other suggestions did they all have? "You need a place so we can keep their own notes....choose our own font and colors....a place to do an internet search for more info....a place where other kids can submit their reviews and ask question and share tips....some cooler choices for business cards and design our own business posters." Makes sense to us, too!

Yes, we ask so-called experts to review our apps too. But the kids are our major customers too and it just makes sense to listen to them. Wouldn't you agree?  More to come....and soon...from Sam, Josh, Ellen and more kids.

Who Are the RE@L Players in Today's 24/7 Learning World?

Hint: There's really only one!

Hint #2:

You guessed it!

It's RE@L, known to those who know about innovative, cost-effective mobile apps as: "Real Experiences at Learning, Inc."

Many of the creative team at RE@L earned their spurs with the famous wagon train simulation, Oregon Trail®, arguably the most played K12 educational simulation software of all time.

RE@L is now committed to "Innovation with Experience." We are blazing "new trails." We've got the experience and the know-how and we know how to use it.

We now see ourselves as "systemic software" inventors, uniquely different from other software-makers. We create multiple tools that address systemic learning issues. RE@L is not just at school where teachers can help; we're also at home where parents can help, or on the school bus where friends can help. Learning is no longer limited to classrooms. It's everywhere.

Kids today are driving the "Technology Bus". They know where it's heading and they know what they need to learn: more fun, tested, effective games and activities for mobile devices.

Parents want their children to be competitive in today's tech-driven world. Teachers want their students to have access to these new, motivating tools so one-on-one they can hardly put them down for charging.

Since RE@L offers an array of effective products that address a broad range of K12 needs, they are viewed by the market as "game-changers." They have changed the way kids can learn, from skills development to life skills to real-world issues.

Is it Time for a Turn-On Word for the Turn-Off Term of Today's: "Education"?

Why do so many young learners today in K12 prefer challenging online games and interesting mobile learning apps they find on the Apple Store or Minecraft to the usual fare of teacher-led, classroom learning?

Maybe we need a new word to describe more of the content and delivery of what K12 learning SHOULD be.

How about the word, "Edu-tainment ™"? It's a coined term used a few years back by the software folks who brought you "Oregon Trail," the most played learning game in history. Edu-tainment reflects the fact that if learning doesn't contain some fun and engagement, too many kids don't care about learning at all.

So, what do YOU think? If "Edu-tainment" is a good choice, click "Like" on our Facebook page. If you have a better word, enter it in the "Comments" section.  You can also indicate your preference in the Blog Comments below.

The right word means a lot to our young  learners.
